Luxembourg’s minister of foreign affairs, Jean Asselborn, is making for Ukraine today for two days of talks with his counterpart, Pavlo Klimkin and other members of the Ukrainian parliament, Verkhovna Rada, including President Petro Poroshenko and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Stepan Kubkiv, for talks focussing on the political situation in Ukraine as well as on the crisis in the east of the country and the state of implementation of the Minsk Accords. Relations between the EU and Ukraine will also be discussed.

During the trip, Minister Asselborn will consider the security situation on the ground, including a visit to Donbass, in the vicinity of the contact line. He will meet with representatives of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), which is deploying a special observation mission to the country.

Minister Asselborn will take advantage of the meetings to take stock of the bilateral relations between the Grand Duchy and Ukraine, as well as current issues of international politics.
