The Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine at the University of Luxembourg will be hosting the 4th International Systems Biomedicine Symposium on the "Impact of Big Data Analytics on Healthcare" from 4-5 October 2016 at the Maison du Savoir in the University Campus in Esch-Belval.
Throughout life, an individual sees many different doctors for various, sometimes complex, medical conditions that require a plethora of examinations, molecular tests and medications. How can healthcare providers best make use of this information that describes the individual patients and turn it into knowledge providing the best possible care at minimal cost? Currently, organisations are still inundated with the vast quantity of personal data and challenges and questions into how to implement infrastructure and deliver this data in a usable format remain. The hopeful vision of Big data is that healthcare organisations will be able to harness relevant data and use it to allow doctors make the optimal clinical decisions. In this process, reliable and secure Big data analytics and suitable policy and reimbursement frameworks are needed to help organisations identify new opportunities from their patient data. The proposed 2-day conference will provide specific use cases where Big data analytics could and already start to create impact in the fields of oncology and neurology. The programme will also allow for more in-depth coverage of pertinent topics that are not disease-specific: computational modeling, diagnostics and clinical decision support systems, technology and innovations.
