Twelve rental social houses are currently under construction at the Rue du Canal in Ettelbruck.

This morning, the Cécile Ginter Foundation announced the beginning of the construction of two new residences with social rental housing located on 2-6, Rue du Canal in Ettelbruck.

These two construction projects are not the first ones of the Cécile Ginter Foundation: since last March, a first project was launched in the Cité 'O in Differdange. However, the new projects confirm the Foundation's determination to tackle the problematic lack of social rental housing in Luxembourg. François Jacobs, vice-president of the Foundation, commented that “every person and every family has the right to decent housing, including the most vulnerable and the poorest among us. Without decent housing, they will always remain excluded from our society."

The two residences under construction in Ettelbruck comprise a total of 12 good-quality housing units, ranging in size from 60 to 105 m2, two of which comply with the standards for people with reduced mobility needs. The buildings are located right next to Ettelbruck City Hall in the city centre and close to the railway station and primary school.

The total cost of the construction project is €5.6 million (17% inc. VAT). The project is carried out by Sopi Concept and is supported by the Ministry of Housing.

The two residences should be finished by the end of 2019.
