Pfaffenthal Lift, with walkway at Pescatore;

The Ville de Luxembourg has announced that the Pfaffenthal Lift, linking the old city with the Pfaffenthal valley, will be out of action, possibly until Monday 9 April 2018.

The lift is currently out of service due to a technical problem - a broken traction wheel bearing. Repair work is in progress; the lift is scheduled to again provide the link between the two neighbourhoods from Tuesday 10 April 2018 at 05:45. The Ville de Luxembourg has stated that it will make every effort to ensure that the lift will be operational again as soon as possible and will inform the public as soon as it is put back into service.

In order to improve the service to lift users, the Cityapp provides real-time information on the status of the lift, i.e. the usual opening hours of the lift (Monday to Sunday, starting daily at 05:45 and closing at 01:00) as well as a warning if the lift is closed for monthly maintenance work or is decommissioned due to temporary technical problems. By choosing a push notification subscription, an automatic message will warn users in the event of an unscheduled shutdown of the lift.
